Empowering Futures Through Mentorship and Mindset

OzGeeOm recently supported a full-day development session facilitated by Kairos, created specifically for six promising students who are currently receiving OzGeeOm bursaries. These bursaries are life-changing; enabling students to continue their studies when financial barriers might otherwise have forced them to put their education on hold.

The session was designed to support students not only academically, but personally. Throughout the day, participants engaged in guided coaching focused on building self-motivation, understanding and managing emotions, and developing practical strategies to stay positive and resilient in the face of challenges. These skills are critical for young people navigating study, work, and personal pressures; particularly for those who have already had to overcome significant obstacles to pursue education.

By investing in opportunities like this, OzGeeOm aims to support the whole student, not just their tuition. Education is about more than textbooks and exams; it’s about confidence, mindset, and the belief that a different future is possible. The Kairos session provided a safe, encouraging environment where students could reflect, learn, and strengthen the inner tools they need to succeed both during their studies and beyond.

We are incredibly proud to stand alongside these students and to partner with organisations like Kairos that share our commitment to empowering young people. Together, we are helping create pathways to opportunity; and ensuring that talent, determination, and potential are never limited by circumstance.

We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to your generosity, we raised $57,249 on the night! These funds will go a long way in supporting our mission.

We are thrilled to share some photo highlights with you. Thanks to the support of many on the night, as well as through regular monthly contributions we are also helping young people who long to study beyond school. Thanks to our loyal supporters two high school students will start their journey in 2026.

With these donations, we will also be supporting the desperate need for essentials by supporting a number of providers, namely Kairos, Careson Angel, Wenakker, and LilyRose.

We’re thrilled to announce an exciting new initiative to honour dedicated supporters like you! In recognition of your generous contributions, we’re launching the OzGeeOm Supporters Club.

Many businesses/families/individuals wish to demonstrate their support for a not-for-profit organization such as ours. In recognition of the contributions made throughout the year, including participation in our events* and the ongoing commitment of supporters who contribute regularly through monthly donations, we now offer the opportunity to formally showcase your support. You can do so by displaying the OzGeeOm Supporters badge on email signatures, a website or company stationary, signalling your dedication to our cause to both colleagues and clients.

This club is designed to celebrate and acknowledge those who champion our cause, offering four distinct membership tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Each tier provides a range of special benefits, including the opportunity to showcase your support as a business or as a valued member of a family. Showcase this logo on email signatures, company stationary, website and at OzGeeOm events*. In addition Platinum members will also be recognised on the OzGeeOm website.

*Includes all memberships other than bronze.

Bronze

Supporters who contribute at least $200 in a financial year or more annually are now eligible to receive a digital badge for use on email signatures, stationary, and a website.

Silver

Supporters who contribute $500 or more annually will be recognized with information shared at our prestigious Annual Dinner to Dazzle Gala. Silver supporters will also receive a digital badge for use on email signatures, stationary and a website.

Gold

Supporters who contribute $1500+ annually will be recognised with information shared at both the Dinner to Dazzle Gala and one or more Ladies’ Teas as well as receive a digital badge for use on emails, stationary and website.

Platinum

Supporters who contribute $2,500+ in a financial year will have their information shared on the OzGeeOm website homepage, and at all our events. Platinum supporters will receive a digital platinum badge for use on emails, stationary and company website.

Supporting the Underprivileged in 2025

With the generous support of South Africans living in Australia, many adults from South African communities around Pretoria were able to benefit from Christmas and monthly donations, receiving food parcels to help ease the burden of the rising cost of living. These parcels, packed with essential groceries, offered much-needed relief for families struggling financially. By reducing some of the pressure on these households, these donations allow individuals to focus on other important areas of life, such as finding stable employment or caring for their families. The united efforts of the South African community in Australia have had a meaningful impact on the lives of many South Africans in need.

Sowing Hope in 2025: Our Generosity Gives Children and Families a Brighter Start

Thanks to the compassionate support of South Africans living in Australia, children from underprivileged backgrounds were able to begin the school year with the supplies they desperately needed but could not afford. The donations received made it possible for these children to receive basic school stationery, such as pens, pencils, and notebooks, that are vital for their education. Additionally, each child was given a hat to protect them from the harsh sun, ensuring they could take part in outdoor activities and stay safe while doing so.

The generosity extended beyond just the children. Many adults in the community also benefitted from the donations, receiving food parcels to ease the strain of the rising cost of living. These parcels, filled with essential groceries, provided a sense of relief for families facing financial difficulties. By alleviating some of the pressure on these households, the donations allowed individuals to focus on other aspects of life, such as seeking stable employment or caring for their families. The collective efforts of the South African community in Australia made a real difference in the lives of many South Africans in need.

With the generous support of OzgeeOm supporters, we donated R150,000 to two organizations, helping them host a Christmas lunch and provide food parcels filled with special treats, spreading love to those in need.

A Spring Ladies Lunch that made a difference

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who joined us for the Spring Ladies Lunch on August, we raised $7,000 on the day, plus an additional $500 in ongoing monthly contributions. As promised, we focused our efforts on supporting babies in the Pretoria West area, and we’re thrilled to share that we have secured all the necessary supplies for these babies through to the end of January 2025. On 31 August 2024 over 100 women attended a special Spring Lunch at the Heritage-listed Courthouse Restaurant in Cleveland, coming together to make new connections, enjoy a fantastic meal, and show their support for the work of OzGeeOm. Dozens of attendees pledged to contribute to OzGeeOm with 100% tax-deductible donations from as little as $10 per month. With an additional $3,000 in monthly commitments, we are now able to provide over 100 cans of baby formula to mothers in South Africa who are unable to afford essential nutrition for their infants.

Winter Hampers Making a Difference

Through our fundraising efforts, we raised over R360,000 to distribute more than 800 winter parcels. These parcels include warm essentials like socks, beanies, ponchos, blankets, hot chocolate, and other items to alleviate the hardships of winter. In 2024, we’ve already donated R210,000, and our target for the year is R750,000.
